C-DAC releases EduBOSS- an educational variant of BOSS GNU/Linux distribution
Chennai,June 24,2010:C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) has come out with BOSS GNU/Linux distribution's educational variant EduBOSS and the EduBOSS - Tamil is released by Thiru. BOSS GNU/Linux is available in both Desktop and server and used in government departments.In addition to Desktop and Server NRCFOSS has come out with BOSS GNU/ Linux distribution's educational variant that is targeted towards school children named as "EduBOSS".EduBOSS activities are coordinated by C-DAC Chennai centre,led by Shri.Rajagopalan and a tem of 25 engineers who are involved in developing the BOSS GNU/Linux operating system.
EduBOSS is a debian based Linux distribution which is adopted for Indian scenario.eXe - eLearning XHTML editor (eXe) is an authoring tool that helps teachers in the design, development and publishing of web-based leaarning and teaching materials.EduBOSS is packed with applications such as Edutainment -Educational games for small children .quick learning of alphabets for kids & Graphics - paint and photo management application.Educational Packages such as Mathematics ,Science,Social Science are also available.It is also bundled with BharateeyaOO(in 19 indian languages) comprising of word processor,Presentation tools,Smart Common Input Method(SCIM) for 10 indian languages.
